A merit-sharing ceremony for the 55th Tatkon Maha Kathina event was organized at Aung San Hall in Tatkon Township, Nay Pyi Taw, yesterday.
A total of 55 Sayadaws and monks led by township Maha Bon Kahtein Ovadacariya Sayadaw Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhammajotika Bhaddanta Candasiri (Myo Shae Sandayon Monastery) attended the event.
Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, Nay Pyi Taw Council member U Zeyar Lin, departmental officials and donors offered day meals to Sayadaws.
At noon, Ovadacariya Sayadaw delivered Saraniya Ovada Katha, and Maha Kathina ceremony organizing chairman U Zaw Lwin supplicated the distribution and drawing lots for Padetha trees.
The congregation took the Five Precepts from Sayadaws and listened to the Paritta recited by Sayadaws.
The Kathina organizing committee members and donors donated the offerings to the invited Sayadaws and eligible Sayadaws for Kathina.
They shared the merit gained.
A total of 162 Padethabin structures decorated with offerings worth K273,285,900 were donated at the 55th Tatkon Maha Kathina ceremony. — MNA/ KTZH
