MNA unveils Boeing 737-400 cargo flights as new milestone

State-owned Myanmar National Airlines (MNA) currently operating passenger flights debuts its cargo flight from Yangon to Thailand.

Myanmar National Airlines (MNA), a state-owned airline that currently operates passenger flights exclusively, initiated cargo flights using a Boeing 737-400 from Yangon to Thailand. This marked the airline’s inaugural cargo flight, which took place yesterday, aiming to expand air transport of goods.

MNA received the Boeing 737-400 cargo aircraft, capable of carrying 18 tonnes of cargo, on 15 September. The airline plans to further expand cargo flights originating in Yangon to destinations in the People’s Republic of China, Singapore, Malaysia, and India. The expansion of cargo flights is expected to boost the export and import sector while supporting economic growth. In the first cargo flight yesterday, a total of 15.9 tonnes of cargo were transported. — MNA/MKKS
