A Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Construc­tion U Myo Thant visited the Republic of Korea from 25 to 30 August to observe construction and maintenance technologies for large cable-stayed bridges in connection with the Myan­mar-Korea Friendship (Dala) Bridge project.

 

During the trip, the Union minister and party met with companies responsible for construction and consultancy works of the Dala Bridge, dis­cussing project progress, chal­lenges and long-term durability measures.

 

They also visited the Ko­rea Authority of Land and In­frastructure Safety (KALIS) headquarters in Mokpo to learn classification of bridge types, regular inspection systems, and advanced monitoring technolo­gies applied to super bridges. The delegation then observed construction sites to study de­sign integration with mainte­nance systems.

 

In Anyang, they explored the Anyang Smart City Inte­gration Centre, where officials explained the city’s decade-long development using AI technol­ogies for urban management, security, and infrastructure. The delegation also visited Seoul to observe modern city planning along the Han River, cultural heritage preservation works, and urban road design stand­ards.

 

Furthermore, the Union minister held discussions with Korean companies engaged in Myanmar’s infrastructure sec­tor on enhancing cooperation in road, bridge, and urban develop­ment projects through technolo­gy and investment. — MNA/KZL
