A Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Energy U Ko Ko Lwin, who is currently in the People’s Republic of China to discuss energy cooperation between Myanmar and China, visited factories producing various types of multi-purpose engines and generators yesterday.

During the visit, the Union Minister expressed his desire to promote technology exchange and to install and manufacture such equipment in factories in Myanmar. He also discussed carrying out maintenance work, sending Myanmar staff to Chinese factories for practical training courses, and enhancing cooperation between the two countries.

Factory officials explained the production processes, including the assembly of manufactured parts, testing of finished products, and maintenance of used engines. They also demonstrated various types of engines with different horsepower levels, such as methanol and natural gas engines, and generators that can operate in conjunction with these engines. These products are designed for use in vehicles, vessels, and power generation systems, depending on user needs.

The Union Minister also visited state-owned factories with the technology and copyrights to collaborate directly with manufacturers possessing strong and reliable expertise. He noted that as the diesel engines, natural gas engines, and generators currently used in electricity generation have been in service for a long time, their efficiency has declined, and natural gas leakage has increased. Therefore, major repairs and upgrades are necessary, along with timely access to essential spare parts and expert assistance for machinery repair and maintenance. — MNA/MKKS
