THE Ministry of Electric Power is working in various ways to generate more electricity from the existing generations, said Union Minister U Nyan Tun.

He made the remarks at a meeting with employees at the Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation (YESC) headquarters in Ahlon Township, Yangon, on 27 October.

The ministry is planning to expand power generation to meet the demand in Yangon Region, as well as to increase the transmission capacity. The Union minister urged that all must work together on projects to improve the availability of a stable power supply, and to make spot checks, cross checks, counter checks and surprise checks to ensure there is no illegal power theft.

Moreover, he emphasized collecting 100 per cent of utility bills to avoid waste, to prevent misuse, and to supervise correct readings.

The Union minister also said that the ministry is a public service department, so the people should be treated properly and kindly to provide the best service, and all should work together to improve the ministry’s image. – Htun Htun/ZN
