DEPUTY Minister for Foreign Affairs U Ko Ko Kyaw received Mr Iskander Azizov, Ambassa­dor of the Russian Federation to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, yesterday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.

 

They cordially discussed and exchanged views on further strengthening ASE­AN-Russia Dialogue Relations under the ambit of Myanmar in its capacity as the Country Coordinator and outcomes of the ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference with Russia held on 10 July 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which was co-chaired by Myanmar and Russia.

 

Both sides also discussed matters of mutual interest, including ASEAN-Russia en­gagements and cooperation within the ASEAN-led mech­anisms, such as the East Asia Summit (EAS) and the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF).

 

Following the courtesy call, the ambassador of the Russian Federation present­ed commemorative gifts to six players from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who had par­ticipated in the ASEAN-Russia Online Chess Tournament held on 18 April 2025. Additionally, a chessboard signed by Mr Sergei Karjakin, Member of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Rus­sian Federation, President of the Chess Federation of the Moscow Region, was handed over to the deputy minister of Foreign Affairs on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Chess Team. — MNA
