ACCORDING to the Ministry of Health, a total of 43,778 Nursing and Midwifery Diploma holders and 42,524 Integrated Midwifery Diploma holders have been produced from 1962 to 2025 academic years.

 

This information was shared by Dr Tin Tun, Director-General of the Department of Health Human Resources, during the certificate presentation ceremony for the 3-year diploma programme at the Nursing and Midwifery Training School (Nay Pyi Taw).

 

"In line with the third objective of the National Defence and Security Council, which focuses on the advancement of national education and health sectors for sustainable national development, the Ministry of Health is implementing several strategic frameworks such as the National Health Plan, sustainable development projects, and the 30-Year Myanmar Health Vision Long-term Plan, across the country, including rural and border areas.

 

Altogether, 5,674 students are currently enrolled in the 3-year course, and 535 are enrolled in the 2-year programme. In the 2026 academic year, 2,080 nursing students and 582 midwifery students have already been selected for enrolment, he said, urging graduates to maintain the dignity of their profession and emphasizing the importance of teamwork, a positive mindset, an innovative spirit, collaboration and mutual respect. — MT/ZN
