MOI Union Minister attends MNA’s Diamond Jubilee Dinner

Union Minister for Informa­tion U Maung Maung Ohn at­tended a dinner to mark the 75th Anniversary (Diamond Jubilee) celebration of Myanmar Na­tional Airlines (MNA) under the Ministry of Transport and Communications in Yangon yesterday.

 

Ministers from the Yangon Region government including Chief Minister U Soe Thein, the staff of MNA and invitees were also present at the din­ner served at Novotel Hotel Yangon.

Before the dinner, the MNA CEO made a keynote speech and provided a presentation about airline operations. He also explained matters relating to the selection of agent awards and commercial matters.

 

A video clip of the MNA’s Diamond Jubilee celebration was also shown, and the best seller agent award for 2023 and awards for outstanding staff were presented. The Union minister and officials of the MNA management committee extended well-wishes dedicated to the MNA’s Diamond Jubilee.

 

Myanmar National Air­lines, the state-owned business, was originally founded as Un­ion of Burma Airways (UBA) in 1948. Presently, MNA which marks its Diamond Jubilee on 16 September, offers scheduled flight services to Thailand, Sin­gapore, China, Korea, and In­dia, along with charter flights for pilgrimage to Gaya since early 2015. The airline also schedules flights to areas that are hard to reach and no other private airlines have flights to there. On 19 September, MNA debuted its cargo flight to Thai­land using a Boeing 737-400 and similar schedules are also planned for China, Singapore, Malaysia and India. — MNA/TH
