THE election reporting course (Batch 5), organized by the Myanmar Press Council, was opened yesterday morning at the Shwe U Daung Hall of News and Periodicals Enterprise on Theinbyu Road in Botahtaung Township, Yangon.

 

First, Dr Tin Tun Oo, Chair of the Myanmar Press Council, delivered the opening remarks, followed by introductory re­marks from U Khin Maung Kyaw Din, Vice-Chair (2) and head of the Media Development Com­mittee. Course instructor U Sein Toe (San Lin) then explained the agenda and teaching plan for the election reporting course.

 

A total of 80 trainees are at­tending the course, which will run from 10 am to 3 pm on 1-3 December. The subjects to be taught include elections and the media, election-related English, election day reporting, online news writing, election-related and print media law, election news reporting, collection and compilation of election infor­mation, and reporting on elec­tion results. These subjects will be Lectured by U Myat Soe (Hlaing), U Khin Maung Aye (KMA), U Khin Maung Kyaw Din (MPC), U Aung Zaw Myo (Ministry of Information), U Tin Maung Oo (Gyobingauk Tin Maung Oo), Dr Zaw Than (Sankei Shimbun — Japan), and U Yan Kyaw (Myanmar affairs analyst). — MNA/MKKS
