MPT organized a group walking programme and a Zumba fitness activity involving employees and their family members at Kandawgyi Park in Yangon yesterday morning, as part of its December initiative to promote employees’ physical fitness and an active lifestyle.
In the modern technological era, increased reliance on electronic devices has reduced levels of physical activity, adversely affecting people’s health and life expectancy. Walking helps address physical inactivity that can impact both community and family life. It strengthens the cardiovascular system, improves bone strength and effectively reduces stress. Zumba training, meanwhile, provides an intensive full-body workout that enhances balance, flexibility and overall physical fitness. Walking also improves blood circulation, helps prevent obesity and supports heart health. For these reasons, MPT employees regularly take part in walking, Zumba and other health-related activities.
Mr Hiroyuki Okai, from the Operations Department of MPTJO, said: “We are working to boost employee motivation and support physical fitness. To help employees restore their energy and remain active, we continue to implement programmes such as walking, Zumba, yoga and futsal competitions under the ‘TeamFit: Unite and Move’ initiative. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to employees nationwide for their enthusiastic participation”.
MPT launched the ‘TeamFit: Unite and Move’ programme in 2023, which includes December walking activities, Zumba fitness sessions, yoga health activities and futsal tournaments. The programme aims to encourage employees to engage in regular physical activity, foster strong morale, and further enhance both physical and mental wellbeing, thereby supporting overall employee fitness. — Oktha/KZL
