THE Myanmar Special Econom­ic Zone Central Working Com­mittee held its second meeting for the 2025-2026 financial year in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

 

Speaking at the meeting, Union Minister for Finance and Revenue Dr Kan Zaw, who is also chairman of the working committee, said efforts must be made to increase export volume at the Thilawa Special Econom­ic Zone to reduce the country’s trade deficit as much as possible. He also stated that closer coop­eration with domestic MSMEs is needed to promote the develop­ment of the MSME sector.

 

Work must also be carried out in accordance with laws, rules, and procedures for the Kyaukphyu Deep-Sea Port Pro­ject. For the Dawei Special Eco­nomic Zone, he instructed that all investments must be man­aged in line with the Myanmar Special Economic Zone Law and its related rules and regulations.

 

Union Minister for Com­merce U Chit Swe, who is vice-chair of the committee, briefed on the ongoing work plans to increase the investment at Thil­awa Special Economic Zone and successfully implement the Kyaukphyu Special Economic Zone and Dawei Special Eco­nomic Zone projects.

 

The participants coordinat­ed the discussion, and Union Minister Dr Kan Zaw made prop­er instructions. — MNA/KTZH
