UNION Minister for Social Wel­fare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Soe Win received Mr Filippo Grandi, UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Ge­neva, Switzerland, at the Min­istry’s meeting hall yesterday afternoon.

They discussed the UN High Commissioner for Refugees’ pri­ority visit to Myanmar as his term of office will soon end, the pro­gress made in signing the MoU between the Ministry and the United Nations High Commis­sioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the status of UNHCR’s humani­tarian assistance to the affected people, the internally displaced persons in Rakhine State and the ongoing cooperation between the Ministry and UN agencies.

The meeting was attended by officials from the Ministry, Director of UNHCR’s Bureau for Asia and the Pacific, Ms Hai Kyung Jun, and UNHCR’s Res­ident Representative in Myan­mar, Ms Noriko Takagi. — MNA/ MKKS
