The Myanmar delegation led by State Administration Council Member Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo left for Russia on 1 September to attend the 9th Eastern Economic Forum which would be held in Vladivostok, Rus­sia, from 3 to 6 September.

 

The delegation included Un­ion Ministers from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Ir­rigation, the Ministry of Electric Power, the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Commerce, and the Ministry of Hotels and Tour­ism, and the deputy minister for Information and other relevant officials.

 

On 3 September, the delega­tion met Mr Sholban Valerievich Kara-ool, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma, and discussed further bilateral cooperation, preparations for election in My­anmar and the tourism industry.

 

On 4 September, the Myan­mar delegation met Mr Maksim Reshetnikov, Minister of Eco­nomic Development of the Rus­sian Federation and exchanged views on the ongoing work plans after the fourth meeting of the Inter-Governmental Russian My­anmar Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, progress in Myanmar-Russia economic co­operation and implementation of the roadmap for cooperation between the two countries.

 

At noon, they attended the signing event of MoC between Myanmar and Russia regarding construction of foliage spray plant in Myanmar.

 

According to that MoC, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, Ministry of Coop­eratives and Rural Development and Fund RC-Investments will operate foliage spray production processes as the first phase, and fertilizer plant as the second phase. — MNA/KTZH
