THE closing ceremony of the Student Cultural Exchange Pro­gramme, organized under the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund (2025), was held yesterday evening at the Sum­mit Parkview Hotel in Yangon. The programme ran from 9 to 12 November.

 

At the ceremony, Deputy Minister for Education U Nay Myo Hlaing emphasized the importance of cultural and ed­ucational exchanges in human resource development. He high­lighted that such exchanges fos­ter mutual respect, trust, equal­ity, and understanding among nations, while also strengthening warm and friendly relations and enhancing educational coopera­tion to support human resource development.

 

The Deputy Minister pre­sented commemorative gifts to teachers and student represent­atives from China and Thailand. Representatives from the par­ticipating countries expressed their gratitude before attending a dinner reception hosted in their honour.

 

The ceremony was attended by officials from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of Chi­na in Myanmar, the Ministry of Education, representatives and students from China, Thailand, and Myanmar, as well as educa­tion officers and school heads from the Department of Basic Education.

 

Earlier in the morning, the visiting teachers, students, and officials toured Basic Educa­tion High School No 1 in Dagon Township, the National Museum, and the Secretariat, where they discussed measures to further strengthen cultural exchange and plan future programmes.

 

On 10 November, the deputy director-general of the Depart­ment of Basic Education briefed the students on the objectives of the cultural exchange pro­gramme. Student represent­atives from Myanmar, China, and Thailand delivered pres­entations on their respective education systems, customs and traditions, and cultures and arts.

 

On 11 November, the delega­tion visited the Practising High School of Yangon University of Education and the Shwedagon Pagoda as part of their cultural and educational study tour. — MNA/KZL
