Myanmar delegation attends AICHR-EU dialogue on disinformation & misinformation in Singapore

The Myanmar delegation con­sisting of Myanmar Minister to Singapore/charge d’affaires ad interim U Zaw Zaw Soe, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information U Myint Kyaw, Deputy Direc­tor-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs U Man Hauk Thang and Chairman of the Myanmar Press Council U Ohn Maung (aka) Myinmu Maung Naing Moe attended the meet­ing between the ASEAN Inter­governmental Commission on Human Rights and the Euro­pean Union regarding disin­formation and misinformation held at JEN Singapore Tanglin by Shangri-La in Singapore yesterday.

 

At the meeting, Minister of Communications and Informa­tion of Singapore Mr Tan Kiat How gave an opening speech, and Singaporean in-charge to AICHR Dr Shashi Jayakumar and EU Ambassador to ASE­AN Mr Sujiro Seam extended words of greeting.

 

The discussion was divid­ed into four parts, and officials discussed the impacts of mis­information and disinforma­tion on society, approaches to handle and control fake news, challenges and ways to solve the difficulties due to the fake news in Southeast Asian coun­tries and European countries, different perspectives in com­batting fake news through var­ious means and disseminating of accurate information to be done not only by the individual country but also every country of the region and the world in the future. — MNA/KTZH
