Myanmar gains one more gold medal in XXXII SEA Games

MYANMAR sports teams claimed one more gold medal plus silver and bronze medals as the XXXII SEA Games was held at various stadiums and sports halls in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on 16 May.

 

Myanmar teams grabbed one gold and three bronzes in Vovinam Event, three silvers in Traditional Boat Race, and one bronze in Weightlifting.

 

Men’s and women’s Vovinam events were held at Chroy Changvar Convention Centre Hall A at 2:30 pm Cambodian Standard Time.

 

In the Men’s Team Performance Event, Myanmar’s Aung Zaw Thet, Ye Zaw Moe, Ye Tun Ank won the gold medal for Myanmar while host Cambodia secured silver and the Philippines and Viet Nam jointly grabbed the bronze.

 

In the Men’s Single Performance Event, Myanmar’s Htet Wai Hlaing picked the bronze.

 

Khin Khin Khant also garnered the bronze medal for Myanmar in the Women’s Single Performance Event, and Khaing Kyawt Kyawt Wai, Kay Khaing Kyaw, and Hlaing Phoo Wai bagged another bronze for Myanmar in the Women’s Team Performance Event of Vovinam.

 

Next, Traditional Boat Race Event was continued at Perk Kampot, Kampot City, Kampot Province, and Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Viet Nam, Cambodia, and the Philippines teams competed in the tourney.

 

Myanmar won one silver medal each in the Men’s 12 crews (U-24) 800-metre Event, Men’s 12 crews (open) 800 m Event, and Men’s 5 crews (U-24) 800 m Event.

 

Next Myanmar competed against Cambodia, Viet Nam, and Thailand in the Men’s 89 kg Weightlifting Event, at the Table Tennis Hall, Olympic Complex, and Myanmar’s Yan Myo Kyaw claimed the bronze medal.

 

Myanmar participated in the Traditional Boat Race, Judo, Weightlifting, Vovinam, and Men’s Football events on 16 May and secured one gold, three silvers and four bronzes.

 

In the XXXII SEA Games, Myanmar secured 114 medals so far (21 golds, 25 silvers, and 68 bronzes) to date. — MNA/KZL
