THE Ministry of Health organ­ized a ceremony to mark 2025 World AIDS Day in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

 

Speaking at the event, Depu­ty Minister Prof Dr Aye Tun stat­ed that the preventive medication is being provided for key popula­tions at high risk of HIV infection, and that community-based HIV screening services and rapid testing for HIV are also being carried out to ensure better ac­cess for key populations with high HIV prevalence. He added that in line with this year’s World AIDS Day theme, “Overcoming dis­ruption, transforming the AIDS response,” efforts must be made to ensure equal access to HIV prevention and treatment servic­es for everyone, cooperate with the partner organizations and people, including target groups and HIV patients to resolve the challenges and strengthen the HIV/AIDS preventive measures than before.

 

He presented awards to the winners of the essay, painting and poster competitions and observed the displayed booths together with the attendees.

 

The Deputy Minister re­ceived a delegation led by Senior Fund Portfolio Manager Ms Qi Cui of The Global Fund, Geneva, Switzerland.

 

During the meeting, they discussed the collaborative ac­tivities to be carried out in 2026 between the ministry and The Global Fund regarding tuber­culosis, HIV/AIDS, and malaria prevention and treatment pro­grammes, measures of the min­istry to ensure the continuous supply of ART medicines, TB medicines, malaria treatment drugs and ongoing work plans.
