IN the 2024 ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championship held on 21 November in the Philippines, the Myanmar team missed third place award and, despite the defeat, also won the Best Goal Scorer award, which went to Chaw Sandi Aung.

In the third-place match, Indonesia defeated Myanmar 4-1, while Vietnam smashed Thailand 2-1 in the final. My­anmar faced Indonesia again, a team they had previously struggled with in group stages and failed to recover from their earlier loss. Myanmar conced­ed two goals in the first half and another two in the second half, with a consolation goal seen from Wutt Yee Lwin.

Following the competition, an award ceremony was held, where Vietnam took first place, Thailand secured second, and Indonesia came third. The Best Goal Scorer award for the tournament was given to Myanmar’s Chaw Sandi Aung. — Ko Nyi Lay/KZL
