A unified push by the federation and export companies is now underway to hit the three-million-tonne export target set for the 2025-2026 financial year.

MYANMAR’S rice export in the past seven months of the current financial year 2025-2026, beginning 1 April, reached over 1.5 million tonnes worth US$499 million, according to the Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF).

Myanmar sends rice to international markets by sea or via cross-border points. Sea trade is the main channel for rice export.

Myanmar shipped over 142,000 tonnes in April, over 250,000 tonnes in May, 210,000 tonnes in June, over 230,000 tonnes in July, over 190,000 tonnes in August and 160,000 tonnes in September and 310,000 tonnes in October, totalling 1.5 million tonnes worth around $499 million, said a representative of Myanmar Rice Federation.

Myanmar delivers rice to the Philippines, China, Spain, Poland, Belgium, China, Indonesia, Senegal and the UK.
