Acting President of the Repub­lic of the Union of Myanmar and State Security and Peace Commission Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received a dele­gation led by Mr Chu Cong Phung, Chair­man of the Vietnam-Myanmar Friendship Association, yesterday morning.

At the meeting, they cordially dis­cussed political progress in Myanmar, preparations to hold a free and fair elec­tion, and the invitation extended to elec­tion observation teams from international communities.

 

They talked about the enhancement of friendly relations and promotion of cooperation between Myanmar and Vi­etnam, and aid provided by Vietnam for Myanmar in the aftermath of the devas­tating Mandalay earthquake.

 

Their discussions emphasized pro­motion of cooperation in agriculture and livestock, production and tourism industries, and plans to raise trade and investment between the two countries.

 

After the meeting, the Acting Presi­dent and SSPC Chairman of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Chair­man of Vietnam-Myanmar Friendship Association exchanged commemorative gifts and had documentary photos taken.

 

Also, present at the meeting together with the Senior General were Commission Secretary and Joint Executive Chief Gen­eral Ye Win Oo, Union Minister for Trans­port and Communications U Mya Tun Oo, and Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs U Ko Ko Kyaw. The Vietnam-Myanmar Friendship Association Chairman was accompanied by his delegation members. — MNA/TTA
