GOOD-QUALITY melons and muskmelons, which are being exported to China, have enjoyed good prices, despite the limited quantity, according to border wholesale trading centres.
Exports have continued through Mongla, with both fruits enjoying a good price of between five and six yuan per kilo, said Khwarnyo fruits wholesale trading centre.
However, unqualified rain-fed melons can’t endure the longer journey, making the export of the quantity of goods still low.
“Muskmelons, which were grown with the expectation of the Muse trading route, have been exported through Mongla only for now. Even if it costs more and takes the journey longer, there is no option but to transport them to their destination when the time arrives. The price of melon and muskmelon is good,” said the person in charge of the fruits wholesale trading centre.
