The International Forum commemorating the International Year of Peace and Trust was held yesterday morning at the Turkmenistan Congress Centre in Ashgabat, attended by Prime Minister U Nyo Saw who delivered a speech.
The Prime Minister attended the ceremony marking the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s policy of permanent neutrality, together with invited international leaders, heads of delegations from the United Nations and various international organizations, and other distinguished guests. Turkmenistan’s President Mr Serdar Berdimuhamedov warmly welcomed the attendees and presented a bouquet in honour of the 30th anniversary of the country’s permanent neutrality policy.
Afterwards, the Prime Minister and international leaders attending the ceremony posed for a group photo in the reception hall of the Turkmenistan Congress Centre.
The forum was then convened under the theme “Peace and Trust: Unifying Goals for a Sustainable Future”. President Mr Serdar Berdimuhamedov delivered the opening address, followed by speeches from the Myanmar Prime Minister, participating national leaders, and heads of delegations from international organizations.
In his address, the Prime Minister noted that the commemorative forum was a special occasion as it coincided with the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s policy of permanent neutrality. He discussed Myanmar’s status as a founding member of the Non-Aligned Movement and its adherence to the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, the international community’s assistance to Myanmar during COVID-19 and natural disasters, preparations for a free and fair multiparty democratic general election, and the invitation of international observation missions. In the evening, the Prime Minister attended a dinner hosted by Turkmenistan.
Yesterday, Prime Minister U Nyo Saw also met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to discuss further strengthening the friendly and diplomatic relations between the two countries, including cooperation in the energy sector.
