THE government continues to conduct joint operations in the Shwe Kokko and the KK Park areas, where suspects commit telecom fraud and online gambling activities. The combined teams comprising security personnel and administrative bodies are involved in these operations, which include entering the areas, dismantling and removing illegal buildings, and taking further action in accordance with the law.
Yesterday, the authorities demolished three four-storey illegal buildings in Section 3 of KK Park, and a total of 485 buildings out of 635 illegal buildings have so far been demolished in the KK Park area.
The combined team conducted searching operations in Myawady and its vicinity area starting 8 December, and found further 12 illegal buildings used for online gambling and sealed four buildings among them yesterday.
To prevent future reuse of the materials in online scams and gambling activities in KK Park and Shwe Kokko areas, the seized materials were incinerated systematically.
The government considers the eradication of telecom fraud and online gambling crimes as a national responsibility and, to ensure that such activities can no longer operate within Myanmar, will continue its efforts in coordination not only with domestic forces but also with the governments of neighbouring countries. — MNA/KZL
