According to the Bago Region Directorate of Hotels and Tourism, nearly 400,000 domestic and foreign travellers visited destinations across the region in the ten months from January to October 2025, a figure higher than that of the same period last year.
Approximately 360,000 travellers visited the region from January to October 2024. In comparison, the number of visitors increased to approximately 390,000 during the corresponding period in 2025.
“As Bago Region is home to numerous pagodas and temples, it attracts a significant number of local and foreign tourists,” said an official from the directorate. “During the Thadingyut and Tazaungdine festivals, hotels, guesthouses, and even monasteries were fully booked. As we are now in the peak tourist season, we anticipate visitor numbers will increase further.”
The Bago Region features 42 tourist destinations, totalling 32 pilgrimage sites, eight eco-tourism sites, and two cultural tourism sites. Travellers frequently visit the Kanbawzathadi Golden Palace, Shwemawdaw Pagoda, and Kyaikpaw Pagoda, among other locations. — ASH/MKKS
