The Kayin State Rural Road Development De­partment of the Minis­try of Cooperatives and Rural Development on 2 November organized an opening cere­mony for roads in the Mizan livestock breeding zone as a gesture of hailing the 69th an­niversary of Kayin State Day.

 

State Chief Minister U Saw Myint Oo, State Chief Justice Daw Khin Swe Tun and rele­vant officials first cut the rib­bon to inaugurate four-mile and 5.4-furlong long paved roads – entrance to the Mizan livestock breeding zone, inner part of zone and outskirt part of zone and expansion processes of a concrete bridge built by Zwekabin May May, Ngwe Ka­bar Aung, Thabyay Thukha and Kaung Myat Aung Kyaw com­panies using K571.452 million of the 2024-2025 financial year State budget.

 

In his speech, the chief minister highlighted the two major breeding industries – pig and goat breeding in the Mizan Livestock Breeding Zone, and the benefits of interconnected roads in the zone, ensuring the emergence of a focal livestock breeding zone that transports products to market at afforda­ble costs.

 

He also inspected the 100- pig breeding farm of farmer U Saw Kapaw Htoo and the 150- goat breeding farm of Yoon Sa Lin Goat MZ-Farm.

 

The state chief minister then attended the ceremony of providing sunflower seeds, black grams, and green gram to farmers by the state gov­ernment and Myanmar Puls­es, Beans, Maize and Sesame Seeds Merchants Association at Zwekabin Hall on the same day.

 

At the event, the farmers were provided with 100 baskets of quality black gram seeds, 100 baskets of green gram, and sun­flower seeds, as well as a half the cost of regular sunflower cultivation.

 

It is estimated that local authorities earmarked cultiva­tion of 4,000 acres of sunflowers in Kayin State this year. — Saw Myo Min Thein (IPRD)/KTZH
