THE second day of the third meeting of the ninth Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee, comprising 47 members, continued at 8 am yesterday at the Vijaya Mingala Dhamma Sabha Hall in Yangon’s Thirimingala Kaba Aye precinct.

The meeting was attended by Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Chair Dr Bhaddanta Candima Bhivamsa, senior Committee members, Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Aye Tun, the director-general of the Religious Affairs Department, the deputy pro-rector (Administration) of the International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University, and religious officials from the regions and states.

The Committee Chair presided over the session, while Joint Chief Preceptor Aggamahapandita Bhaddanta Kovida served as master of ceremonies.

Members presented discussions on Vinaya affairs, religious matters, and education-related issues concerning the duties of the First Subcommittee during its first term. The morning session adjourned at 9 am.

The second session resumed at 1 pm, during which further discussions and decisions were made regarding Vinaya, religious, and education matters. Presenters then continued reviewing the First Subcommittee’s performance during its first term, covering Vinaya, religious, and educational affairs. The meeting approved the performance report, and participating members recited the two stanzas beginning with “Jayanto Bodhiyamule” three times, followed by three recitations of “Sadhu”, bringing the meeting to a successful conclusion. Sangha members attending the meeting were offered dawn and day meals for the 43rd time by lay donors, led by Bhaddanta Manit, the presiding Sayadaw of Kyaikkasan Wailuwun (Shwegyin) Monastery in Thingangyun Township. — MNA/KZL
