Htan Tabin (Yangon), 11 July
The Agriculture Department of Htan Tabin Township, Yangon Region, is actively working to surpass its rain-fed paddy cultivation target for the 2025–2026 rainy season. So far, more than 21,000 acres of rain-fed paddy have already been planted, exceeding the initial target for this crop.
The department set a goal to cultivate 84,138 acres of rain-fed paddy during this rainy season. As of now, 21,268 acres have been successfully planted. To encourage further cultivation and reach the overall goal, officials are conducting field visits and providing on-site education for farmers.
Farmers in the township are adopting cost-saving methods for seed usage and aiming to boost paddy yields. They are receiving hands-on training and technical guidance through a 100-acre model paddy field project.
“This technology is helping farmers select and grow high-yield paddy varieties,” said U Saw Win Ko, staff officer of the Township Agriculture Department.—Zin Min Htike (Htan Tabin)
