          Over 34,000 acres of monsoon paddy will be planted with irrigation water from dams in Minbu(Sagu) Township, Minbu District, Magway Region, according to an official from the  Township Department of Irrigation and Water Utilization Management.

          In the township, it is estimated that Mazale Dam supplies water to 4,401 acres of monsoon paddy and Ainema Dam supplies water to 29,625 acres of monsoon paddy. In addition, various types of paddies including Aung Naing Toe, Manaw Thukha, Ayar Min, Sin Thukha, Kaukhnyin, Pawsan Yin, 100-day and Chan Myae May will be cultivated using solar-powered irrigation system.

In the township, rainwater is only source for cultivation and all types of crops were cultivated during rainy season. Now, farmers earn income from year-round cultivation using rainwater, irrigation water and water pumping projects from rivers, creeks and underground water using solar power.
