As of 4:00 p.m. on 30 July 2025, the water level of the Thaung Yin River in Myawaddy, Kayin State, rose to 1,340 cm—standing 377 cm above the danger mark. In response, residents from flood-prone areas have been evacuated to eight temporary relief camps.
Under the leadership of U Kaung San Lin, Chairman of the Myawaddy District Disaster Management Committee and District Administrator, coordinated relocation efforts have been carried out with support from relevant departments.
To assist those affected, the Disaster Management Team has distributed emergency supplies—including cash assistance, rice, cooking oil, canned fish, and other essentials—to around 4,200 displaced individuals now sheltered in the camps.— Saung Hnin Phyu
