With the aims of ensuring domestic oils consumption and developing oilseed cultivation and production, a total of 4,666 acres of peanuts are targeted for planting in Thaegon Township, Nattalin District, Bago Region.
The target acres for peanut cultivation during this year are 11,541 acres and a total of 6,875 acres of peanut were already planted in monsoon season. The upcoming winter planting will cover the remaining 4,666 acres.
The winter cultivation period starts in September and it will be harvested by the end of February and March. In addition, members of Township Agriculture and Livestock Supervision Committee shared awareness on agricultural practices and are providing necessary inputs to the local farmers, according to the Township Department of Agriculture.
