A total of 92,478 acres of monsoon crops have been planted in Gyobingauk Township, Thayawady District, Bago Region, according to the Township Department of Agriculture.
In the township, paddy, peanut, sesame, sunflower, mung bean, green gram, pigeon bean, sugarcane and seed corn including perennial crops and garden crops are mainly cultivated. This monsoon season, 86,825 acres of main crops, 3,910 acres of oilseeds, 15 acres of sugarcane, 1,252 acres of kitchen crops, 476 acres of other crops and 2,090 acres of perennial crops have been cultivated.
The local farmers are cultivating various crops seasonally in the township. The Township Department of Agriculture is providing trainings and demonstrations on how to produce and utilize organic fertilizer and conducting awareness campaign to increase high yielding and high quality seeds.
