The Kyaukse District branch of the Myanma Agricultural Development Bank in Mandalay Region is providing monsoon agricultural loans for the 2025 season to support farmers in Kyaukse Township. The initiative aims to improve farmers' socio-economic conditions and reduce their reliance on informal debt. So far, more than Ks 8,70 million has been disbursed.
The bank offers Ks 150,000 per acre for paddy and Ks 100,000 per acre for other crops, including chickpeas, green gram, and cotton. Loans have been extended to 1,375 farmers across 43 village tracts, covering a total of 6,116 acres—comprising 5,343 acres of paddy, 704 acres of green gram, 59 acres of cotton, and 10 acres of chickpeas.
In total, the Myanma Agricultural Development Bank plans to provide Ks 20,00 million in loans for monsoon crop cultivation during the 2025 rainy season to help further strengthen the agricultural sector and support local livelihoods.—Thet Maung (Kyaukse)
