Pakistan confirms 4 cases of coronavirus JN.1 variant

The Pakistani Health Ministry confirmed four cases of the coronavirus subvariant JN.1 in the South Asian country.

All the patients had slight symptoms of the new variant, the ministry said in a late-night statement on Monday, adding that all of them have been recovered without any complications.

"The situation is being strictly monitored," Pakistani caretaker Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Nadeem Jan was quoted as saying in the statement.

All the entry and exit points at the international airports of Pakistan have effective screening mechanisms, he added.

The Border and Health Services Pakistan is implementing the recommendations of the International Health Regulations, according to the minister.
