GRADUATION ceremonies for the 16th intake of People’s Military Service trainees were held yesterday at local training depots under the respective military commands across the country. The ceremonies followed military tradition, during which trainees took an oath of allegiance while holding the State Flag.
Then, officials from each training school delivered graduation speeches and presented outstanding graduation awards to the recipients, including the Model Soldier Award, Military Parade Award, Best Marksmanship Award, Code of Conduct Award, Best Mine Handling Award, First Prize in Section Combat, First Prize in Assault, and Best Dormitory Award.
Following the ceremonies, the chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, the chief ministers of regions and states, commanders from military commands, and other officials met with the graduating trainees and cordially encouraged them.
The trainees of the 16th intake of People’s Military Service were trained in subjects such as physical fitness, military training, military tactics, and general studies.
According to the 2008 Constitution, Section 385 stipulates that every citizen has the duty to defend the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the State, while Section 386 provides that every citizen shall undergo military training and serve in the defence of the State in accordance with the law.
Graduates of the 16th batch of People’s Military Service training have acquired the skills to work in an organized manner (teamwork) and will proudly carry out their duties in national defence and security within their respective battalions and units, exemplifying nationalism, patriotism, team spirit, and esprit de corps. — MNA/TH
