Myanmar is home to many ethnic groups with diverse traditional attires such as those of the Kachin and Lisu, and our association is committed to showcasing and preserving the traditional costumes of all ethnic peoples of Myanmar, regardless of their ethnicity or religion.
ACCORDING to the Myanmar Arts and Culture Development Association, preparations are now underway to showcase traditional Kachin ethnic costumes at upcoming international costume exhibitions.
The association stated that, in previous years, Myanmar’s traditional ethnic costumes had been displayed at international cultural shows, earning positive recognition and praise from participants and observers from various countries.
“One thing I’ve noticed from my experience is that whenever we attend such events, scholars and experts from other countries admire Myanmar’s costumes. They are amazed by them. Vietnam has its own traditional attire. However, we in Myanmar have many ethnic groups. We have traditional Kachin attire. We have Lisu attire. These are part of our heritage. Our association aims to highlight the traditional costumes of all Myanmar’s ethnic peoples, regardless of their ethnicity or religion,” said an official from the Myanmar Arts and Culture Development Association. — ASH/KNN
