THE Project and Policy Loan Scruti­nizing Team Meeting 1/2026 was held yesterday at the Department of Inter­nal Revenue, Office 46, and attended by Dr Kan Zaw, Union Minister for Finance and Revenue, and Chairman of the Project and Policy Loan Scruti­nizing Team.

 

Union Minister Dr Kan Zaw, Chairman of the Scrutinizing Team, highlighted that the Myanma Eco­nomic Bank has been providing loans, including short-term and long-term commercial loans and MSME loans for projects and policy activities that require long-term investment for national development by using the savings of the public at the Bank. He emphasized that the “Project and Policy Loan Scrutinizing Team” has been established to provide loans to businesses and scrutinized loan ap­plications submitted for K1,500 and above. He noted that currently, there are seven project loans and four policy loans; in total, 11 loans are repaying the outstanding loans. Therefore, he noted that this meeting aims to make a record and to coordinate the manage­ment of the project and policy loans in a timely manner.

 

Deputy Minister Daw Than Than Lin, Secretary of the Team, then pre­sented that the loan issues for projects and policies, regular repayment of loan principal and interest, and possible ways to collect remaining loans in line with loan procedures.

 

The joint secretary, managing di­rector of the Myanma Economic Bank, also presented the meeting resolution of the previous Project and Policy Loan Scrutnizing Team 1/2022 and the sta­tus of implementation and progress regarding project and policy loans.

 

Afterwards, the members dis­cussed matters relating to legal and loan repayment. Then, Union Minister Dr Kan Zaw, Chairman of the Team, made the concluding remark and ad­journed the meeting.

 

Also present at the meeting were Daw Than Than Lin, Deputy Minister for Finance and Revenue, Dr Htein Lin Oo, Deputy Minister for Legal Affairs, Dr Lin Aung, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar, and departmental heads. — MoFR
