Pwintbyu, 2 September

Pwintbyu Township in Magway Region plans to cultivate 8,227 acres of butter beans during the upcoming winter crop season, according to the Township Department of Agriculture. Planting is scheduled to begin in October.

To meet the targeted cultivation area and achieve high yields, local farmers will collaborate to access quality seed varieties and adopt modern agricultural practices.

As part of the initiative, the Township Agriculture Department will provide farmers with region-appropriate butter bean varieties, as well as technical assistance to boost yields and manage pests and diseases effectively.

Daw Moe Moe Wai, Staff Officer of the Township Department of Agriculture, emphasized that improving butter bean yields will not only meet local consumption needs, but also enable farmers to earn additional income by selling surplus produce, thereby enhancing their socio-economic conditions. She encouraged the continued expansion of butter bean cultivation throughout the township.— Hlaing Win Lay (Pwintbyu Myay)
