Pwintbyu, 22 September
Pwintbyu Township in the Magway Region plans to cultivate 3,744 acres of lablab bean during this year’s winter crop season, according to the Township Department of Agriculture.
Local farmers are preparing to begin planting in October, aiming to meet the designated target set for the season.
To support the cultivation efforts, the Township Department of Agriculture is offering technical guidance, including the use of high-quality, region-appropriate seeds, implementation of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), pest control measures, and strategies to expand lablab bean acreage to boost yields.
“If we can improve both the yield and quality of lablab bean, it will not only satisfy local consumption but also generate additional income through surplus sales,” said Daw Moe Moe Wai, Staff Officer of the Township Agriculture Department. “This will help improve livelihoods and contribute to broader socio-economic development. Therefore, efforts should be made to expand lablab bean cultivation across all regions”, she added. — Hlaing Win Lay (Pwintbyu Myay)
