A total of 12,805 acres of sunflower will be planted in Pwintbyu Township of Magway Region in this year’s cold season, according to the Township Agriculture Department.
Pwintbyu Township is planning to grow oilseed sunflower in this year’s winter crops planting season in order to increase domestic production of edible oil and to boost income from the oilseed sunflowers in the Township.
"In this year’s winter crops growing season, Pwintbyu Township has targeted to plant 12,805 acres of sunflower in the entire township. Now, efforts are being be made to meet the targeted areas. Farmers will be provided with necessary assistance and varieties of sunflower seeds” said Daw Moe Moe Wai, staff officer of the Township Department of Agriculture.
The farmers in Pwintbyu Township has planned to cultivate 12,805 acres of edible oil crops, 2,930 acres of various pulses, 12142 acres of sesame and 115 acres of sesame flower, totaling 27992 acres in this year’s winter crops growing season, according to the Township Agriculture Department.—Hlaing Win Lay(Pwintbyu Mye)
