AS Phase I of the multiparty democratic general election 2025 began at 6 am yesterday in Sittway Township, Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin, accompanied by his wife, Union Election Commission member U Khin Maung Gyi, state ministers and departmen­tal officials, toured polling sta­tions to observe voters casting their ballots peacefully.

 

The Chief Minister and his party visited Polling Station No 1 in West Sanpya Ward, Sittway, where they warmly greeted vot­ers and subsequently cast their own ballots alongside them.

 

Following this, the Chief Minister, the UEC member and state ministers coordinated necessary arrangements to en­sure the smooth and successful conduct of Phase I of the gen­eral election in Rakhine State.

 

In Rakhine State, the elec­tion is being held in Sittway, Kyaukpyu and Manaung town­ships, where voters are peace­fully casting their ballots at a total of 164 polling stations.

 

Likewise, chief ministers of regions and states cast their ballots peacefully and freely and inspected the smooth process for the eligible voter people to cast their votes at respective polling stations. — IPRD/KZL
