Governmental departments, local social organizations and residents jointly organized the sport games in Rikhawdar, Chin State this morning to mark the 71st anniversary of the Chin National Day.

The opening ceremony of the event was held at the township sports ground. Firstly, participating teams saluted the National Flag and a speech by Township Administrator U Kyin Lam Khaing followed. Next, the chairman of the event organizing committee explained the purpose of the sport games and disciplines to be followed by the athletes.

A total of 19 teams will take part in the football tournament while 12 squads plan to participate in the volleyball contest. In addition, 10 teams will compete in the Sepaktakaraw competition.

The first prize winning teams will receive Ks. 500,000 along with the trophies. Ks. 300,000 will go to the second prize winners and Ks. 200,000 will be awarded to third prize winners.—IPRD
