SAFE Migration has announced a maximum service fee that overseas employment agencies are eligible to ask for per worker, depending on their destinations.

According to the announcement, it is US$2,800 for a technology intern, $1,500 for a skilled worker, $1,600 for a worker who would go to a new employer through new agency after working in Japan for 3 years and $200 for a worker who would go again to former employer through former agency after working in Japan for three years. Under the OE meeting decision on 5 April 2024, it is Singapore $2,000 for a work permit and S$4,400 for an S-Pass, and for Malaysia, it is $850 and K25,500.

For Thailand, it is 10,000 Baht for the Myanmar side and 5,390 Baht for the Thai side if the work is Thai SSB registered, and 10,000 Baht for the Myanmar side and 7,600 Baht for the Thai side if the work is not Thai SSB registered.

For Korea, it is $2,100 for the Myanmar side and $4,200 for the Korea side if it is an E7 (3) Visa, and it must not exceed the minimum wage for four months for other countries.

For those who have a job offer, visa and travel documents through a direct connection with the employer, but they are categorized in the basic worker group, so the service fee is $100 and 5 per cent commercial tax on the service fee shall be paid to the Internal Revenue Department, depending on the country and work type. — MT/ ZS
