A REVIEW of history shows that countries around the world have continuously worked to build development and long-term standing. Observing current global events, countries, including modern and developed ones, are prioritizing national interests over other political considerations.

For the nation to achieve success across various sectors, every citizen must possess a “genuine national spirit.” Looking back at Myanmar’s history, the people have long held strong nationalistic and patriotic sentiments. Everyone who is born and raised in this land should value their own literature and language, as there are historical examples of countries disappearing as a result of losing their cultural traditions and linguistic heritage.

Myanmar literature and the Myanmar language have endured throughout a long span of history with solid evidence of their continuity. It is often only when people travel abroad and find themselves in a foreign land that they come to better understand the true value of their own language. Therefore, the Government is working from various angles to further promote and enhance Myanmar literature and national languages beyond their existing level of development.

The term “age of knowledge” does not refer only to the present era. Since the earliest periods of human existence, people have built the human world on the foundation of knowledge. Human civilization has evolved and progressed because of knowledge. A study of developed countries shows that they have become prosperous and advanced due to having many educated individuals and because they have supported education for many years.

Having comprehensive knowledge and skills not only benefits individuals in their own lives but also brings pride to a nation that is rich in educated people. Therefore, the Government has set KG+9 as the minimum compulsory education at present, and efforts are being made to produce a strong pool of educated human resources.

The country’s education system is a well-designed structure that enables students to progress from classroom learning to vocational and knowledge-based skills. Only with strong human resources equipped with adequate technical and intellectual capacity can a nation achieve development and maintain sustainability. After receiving a basic school education, individuals can further pursue the technical and intellectual fields they are interested in. Therefore, the term “education” refers to advancing knowledge and skills built upon school-based learning.

Only through education can individuals become knowledgeable, develop broad perspectives, discern right from wrong, and contribute to the welfare of society. Educated people can help enhance the nation’s prosperity and are able to safeguard their national heritage and religion from all angles.
