THE Russian delegation, led by Mr Evg­eny Grigoriev, Chairman of the Commit­tee for External Relations of the Gov­ernment of Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation, arrived in Yangon yesterday morning and was welcomed at Yangon International Airport by Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, regional ministers, and officials from the Strate­gic Studies and Training Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

 

The Days of Saint Petersburg were celebrated at Lotte Hotel in Yangon, and Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Yangon Command Commander Maj- Gen Pyae Sone Lin, relevant officials, Mr Evgeny Grigoriev, Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of the Government of Saint Petersburg, Russian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Iskander Azizov and other invitees at­tended the event.

 

The video clips depicting famous sites of Saint Petersburg and Myanmar, and the video message of Saint Peters­burg Governor Mr Alexander Beglov were screened.

 

After the greeting speech of the chief minister and Russian officials, the Russian, Belarusian and Myanmar artistes performed traditional dances respectively.

 

The chief minister and Russian of­ficials presented flower bouquets to the cultural dance troupes.

 

The chief minister and the Chair­man of the Committee for External Rela­tions of the Government of St Petersburg exchanged gifts.

 

The chief minister and Russian officials cut the ribbon to inaugurate the photo exhibition marking the Saint Petersburg Day, and observed the dis­played photos.

 

The chief minister hosted lunch at the Crystal Ballroom of Lotte Hotel, and had lunch together with the Russian del­egation and participants. — MNA/KTZH
