THE athletes and administrative team members returned to Yangon yesterday evening by Myanmar Air­ways International (MAI) from the XXXIII SEA Games, which were held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 9 to 20 December. They were welcomed back by officials from the Depart­ment of Sports and Physical Educa­tion, as well as by the parents and rel­atives of the participating athletes.

 

Naing Lin Tun won a silver med­al in the men’s 20-kilometre walk, while Zin May Htet secured a silver medal in the women’s 20-kilometre walk. Florence Nay Chi Tun claimed a silver medal in the women’s un­der-50-kilogramme kumite event, and Thinza Yun won a bronze medal in the women’s under-61-kilogramme kumite. In addition, Aye Aye Aung earned a silver medal in the women’s under-78-kilogramme judo event and a bronze medal in the mixed team event.

 

Bronze medals in the men’s team rope jumping event were won by Htoo Aung Kyaw, Aung Aung, Kyaw Min Thu and Min Thant Thu. In the women’s team rope jumping event, the bronze medallists were Nant May Thu Htwe, Lai Ro In, Thiri Aung and Kyu Kyu Thin. A bronze medal in the men’s snooker 6-red team event in billiards was won by Win Ko Ko. — MNA/MKKS
