MYANMAR shipped 1,975.39 metric tonnes of shrimp in the first three months of the current financial year 2025-2026, beginning 1 April, generating an income of US$5.468 million, Department of Fisheries statistics indicated.
Myanmar sent over 1,800 metric tonnes of shrimp worth $4.56 million by sea and 166.32 metric tonnes of shrimp worth $0.904 million at its borders.
More than 9,000 tonnes of shrimp exports valued at nearly $30 million were placed in the international market in the past financial year 2024-2025 (1 April 2024-31 March 2025), according to the Department of Fisheries.
Myanmar exports fishery products to 40 international countries, including Japan, Bangladesh, China and Thailand, through maritime and border trade channels. — NN/ KK
