Sinpaungwe, July 3
A solar-powered electricity production project is being implemented with a collaborative effort involving the township Rural Development Department, villagers and a company in Laema village,Sinpaung township, Magway district, according to the said department.
The aim of the project is to provide the village with electricity 24 hours. Rural Development Department is making efforts to provide electricity to the villages beyond the reach of national grid under Myanmar national electrification program (off-grid).
Laema village is a small village which has 582 households and a total population of 2600 people. Currently, a solar-powered electricity production project is underway in the village with the cooperation among the RDD, the village people and an investor company, said U Zaw Min Oo, head of the Township RDD.
The project is being carried out with the use of US $ 784 516 , 60 percent of which is contributed by RDD, 20 percent by village people and 20 percent by Mandalay Yoma company, by Mandalay Yoma company with technology provided by World Bank and GIZ Myanmar.— Than Lwin ( Magway)
