SUPPORT for MSME businesses: Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises are a key driving force and main pillar for a country’s economic stability and growth. If regionally established MSME-based industries can be effectively developed, more local employment opportunities will be created, which will help reduce the need for people to migrate to urban areas or foreign countries for work.

If self-sufficient agriculture and livestock production are widely practised at the regional level, it will first ensure food security and enable surplus production to be exported abroad. As production increases, agricultural and livestock products from the region will also contribute to the growth and development of MSMEs, including small- and medium-scale agro-based industries. MSME products will then not only meet domestic demand but also have the potential to be exported internationally.

As agriculture and livestock are the main economic sectors of Myanmar, strengthening regional economies is essential to enhance the overall national economy. To generate regional income, efforts must focus on increasing production and improving manufacturing capabilities. This requires ensuring a sufficient and stable supply of agricultural and livestock products necessary for manufacturing. Therefore, relevant departments must systematically carry out research and development activities to support these goals.

To promote the development of agriculture and livestock enterprises across regions from a national perspective, efforts are being made to ensure adequate and stable access to irrigation water, efficient and systematic use of agricultural inputs, and the improvement of farming practices in a proper and organized manner. If individual farmers and livestock producers in each region adopt systematic and technically sound methods, regional agricultural and livestock-based economies will grow and develop sustainably.

MSME businesses can help reduce poverty and improve living standards. Currently, due to rapid changes and advancements in global politics, economics, and technology, MSMEs increasingly require support in areas such as financial capital, digital technology utilization, access to advanced machinery and technologies, skilled labour, effective management systems, reliable information, and entry into global markets. Alongside these needs, a favourable and enabling business environment is also essential for their success.

Therefore, the development of regional economies is directly linked to the overall economic development of the country. If MSMEs, as well as individual farmers and livestock producers in each region, can effectively contribute to regional economic growth, it will not only strengthen local economies but also significantly support national economic progress. For this reason, the participation of local communities in various regions for MSME development is essential to achieving sustainable national economic growth.
