The Township Agriculture Department has designated to grow a total of 13,198 acres of oilseed crops in Tatkon Township, Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory this year’s winter crop growing season but local farmers have planted only 9,582 of oilseed crops so far, according to the Township Department of Agriculture.

In this year, the Township Agriculture Department has earmarked to grow 13,198 acres of oilseed crops in the Township. As of November 21, 9,582 acres of oilseed crops including 6499 acres of gram, 3002 acres of sesame and 81 acres of sunflower have been cultivated.

In order to meet the target area of oilseed crops, officials from the Township Agriculture Department are making field trips and providing farmers with necessary assistance such as agricultural techniques, good quality seeds, methods of planting and prevention of pest infestation in collaboration with relevant farmers in the Township.—Tin Soe Lwin (IPRD)
