ONLY passenger vehicles installed with a telematic system will be allowed to run on Yangon-Mandalay Expressway, notified the Expressway Maintenance and Supervision Task Force of the Department of Highways.

Telematics devices are now made mandatory for passenger vehicles to run on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway, in accordance with the Expressway Law. It ensures drivers’ adherence to speed limits and safe driving practices, improving road safety for passengers.

Telematics devices will help monitor vehicles the whole day. An awareness period for telematics installation is set from 18 June to 15 October 2024. Afterwards, the department notified vehicle owners that telematics installation is compulsory for highway passenger vehicles from 16 October 2024. — NN/KK
